I bought this bag with the intention of bringing it with me to Basic training, and to use as a daily backpack in the military. When I first unpacked the bag from the box, I immediately noticed the rugged Cordura material and knew right away the bag is made to last. The side compartments are definitely convenient with a long side zipper pocket for a water bottle and a front vinyl-lined pocket to keep food or drinks cold. The back zipper has great storage space for a laptop and a tablet, but the main compartment lacks slightly. I am able to put my pair of boots in with about 5-10% of the compartment's space remaining. Keep in mind thought, that the boots are HUGE (Under armor's FNP combat boots). It gets the job done, but I was hoping for more. Aside from the size, I absolutely love the bag and I even bought a second one!
This bag works great for hauling my gear to and from work everyday, fits all my first aid equipment and still has room for a armour plate against the back panel. Great for medic work.
This backpack is perfect for getting through security at the airport. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This is an easy review to write. This backpack does its job and then some. I love how the black looks and traveling to work in the city with this is really neat. It has its share of compartments that I carry my things in. I'm able to quickly access the pockets by undoing the clips. The main compartment size is just right. It's not a huge bag, you can fit your gym clothes, lunch, and maybe a pair of shoes, but what else would you expect. I'm happy it carries all of my things into work. It even has a side pocket for a shaker bottle. I do recommend this backpack. It's a high price point but this backpack feels quality and will last atleast 10 years.
This seems like a "tactical" school bag to me. Just a little more depth for storage would have made all the difference. Other than that, I like the look of it and it's pretty comfortable.
I use this backpack for work (construction) and it holds everything I need from my tablet to my leatherman. Plenty of storage space, well thought out. Very pleased. Color matched the picture.
Beautiful durable bag, but capacity is actually less than I expected. I'm going to return it for the same model of duffel.
I also thought the top flap and all the clasps for every closure was a little too much.
Go hiking with this backpack a lot. Its well built and holds a decent amount of stuff. Great in the RAIN.
Bought this 9-9-16. been using it for a few weeks now and other then the size of the bag part itself i love this bag. What really sold me was the separate pocket for laptops and tablets. and all the pockets on the front and sides really helps keep things organized. glad i bought this bag.
Although I like the look and design of the bag, and can certainly use it for light travel duties, it has some shortcomings that keep me from giving it 5 stars.
First, my HTC One phone will not fit in the phone pocket on the back. The phone is about 6" long with a 5" screen (diag). An iPhone 4 with a case will fit in the pocket. So, only smaller phones can fit in the pocket. A passport or man's wallet could fit in there, but I would want to keep those kinds of things on my person.
Second, the description says the pack has a lot of MOLLE webbing. It has a SMALL amount of webbing - one strip on the bottom and strips on the shoulder straps. A small MOLLE pouch I have hangs down more than an inch below the bottom of the pack when attached. If I had gotten the black pack and had some SMALL black MOLLE pouches, they might work. But I would not anticipate strapping a lot of stuff onto the pack.
Third, the long, water bottle pocket on the side can hold a .5 liter (17 oz) bottle with no problem, but my 24 oz. steel water bottle will not come close to fitting. So, I suspect a 20 oz. bottle is best you can carry.
Fourth, the laptop sleeve should hold a 15" laptop, but it will have to be a THIN one. I doubt any laptop much more than 1.25" thick will fit into the pocket unless it's a smaller screensize laptop (11" or 13"). The tablet pocket holds an iPad with no problem. One with a thin case should also fit. Above the tablet pocket are small pockets for pens, cables, and other small items.
The two small pockets on the other side are about 6" x 4" x 1.5". A larger phone could fit in one of them. The big pocket on the front has a waterproof lining. It is about 7" x 7.5" x 2". The main pocket runs the length of the pack. It's about 19" x 11 " x 4", although it might expand a little more. You could put a toilet kit and a change of clothes (and an average sized pair of shoes) in it with no problem. The top pocket on the flap is about 6.5" x 4". My phone fit in there with no problem.
In spite of my concerns about some of the sizing issues, I still look forward to using it. On a long road trip, I used a laptop bag and another shoulder bag for all my electronic gear. I believe I can consolidate everything into this one bag in the future.
